The Congress Party of Karnataka has released its initial roster of candidates for the upcoming state assembly elections in 2025. The tenure of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly is set to conclude on May 24, 2025. Although the Election Commission has not yet announced the specific election dates, the scheduled announcement for the Karnataka Assembly Election 2025 is anticipated soon.
As reported by ANI, the Congress Party has declared a list of candidates for the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2025, which includes notable figures such as former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state party president DK Shivakumar. Congress Candidate List Karnataka 2025
According to a press release from the Congress Party, DK Shivakumar will contest from the Kanakapura constituency, while Priyank Kharge is set to contest from Chitapur (SC) constituency. There has been speculation about Siddaramaiah contesting from Varuna, which has now been confirmed. He previously indicated to the party's central leadership the preference to contest from Varuna.
Siddaramaiah mentioned that while discussions about other constituencies have occurred, he would wait for the complete announcement of candidates and their respective constituencies before making a decision. Shiavanada Patil has been chosen as the Congress candidate for Basavana Bagevadi. These details were provided in a press release from Mukul Wasnik, Congress General Secretary Incharge-CEC, on March 25, 2023.
