Maharashtra Governor List: Under Article 153 of the Indian Constitution, every state has a Governor. The current Governor of Maharashtra is Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who took office on September 5, 2019, sworn in by Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Justice Nandrajog, at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. According to Article 155, the Governor is appointed by the President of India and serves a term of five years. Furthermore, Article 156 states that the Governor remains in office as long as the President desires.
The Governor of Maharashtra serves as the head of the state government. Under Article 154, the executive power of the state is vested in the Governor and can be exercised by him either directly or through subordinate officers. A single individual may also be appointed as the Governor of multiple states.

The first Governor of Maharashtra state was Raja Sir Maharaj Singh, who served from January 6, 1948, to May 30, 1952. The first woman Governor of Maharashtra was Vijaya Laxmi Pandit, in office from November 28, 1962, to October 18, 1964. The longest-serving Governor was Dr. P.C.
