The National Food & Public Distribution Government of India has released the new ration card List 2025 on the National Food Security Portal. Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the government has updated the number of fair price shops to 5,35,321 and POS-enabled fair price shops to 4,88,832, with 19.64 crore ration cards representing 77.64 crore beneficiaries.
The NFSA commission has also published the new ration card list 2025 of newly added beneficiaries on its online Food Portal. Citizens of India can check their new ration card details by entering their name or registration number in the new ration card list 2025. If someone does not find their name in the list, they can apply for a new ration card on the Food Portal of India.

Step 1. To check the new ration card list, first, open the official website link of your particular state or union territory, or click the direct link provided in the table, or you can simply visit nfsa.gov.in.
Step 2. On the homepage of the official website, search for the "Ration Card" menu and then select the new ration card list.
Step 3. Now select your state from the dropdown list of state names and then choose your district name, followed by your village or block before clicking the search button.
Step 4. Search for the family head's name or ration card number in the search bar of the new ration card list. If you find your name in the new ration card list, click on the ration card number next to your name to view the details of your ration card.

How to Apply for New Ration Card 2025
Applicants whose names do not appear in the new ration card list 2025 can apply online for a new ration card via the Government of India online portal. Below are the steps to apply for a new ration card:
Step 1: First visit the online portal or the official websites of the state where you are applying for a new ration card.
Step 2: On the homepage of the state government website, go to the online services section or directly click on the links provided in the table above. Then open NFSA (National Food Security Act) and SFSS (State Food Security Scheme). Click on the "Apply New Card" button.
Step 3: Fill in your present residential address and permanent address details, including the time period you have resided at these addresses, then click next. Choose the ration card type (AAY, APL, BPL) and select the details of the FPS from which you want to receive PDS items. Also, indicate the types of food you would like to receive. Then click the next button.
Step 4: On the next page, fill in details of family members, including their age, date of birth, and relationship to the head of the family, then click next and provide other details such as electrical division and distribution company, oil company, LPG distributor, LPG consumer number, residence proof, mobile number, auto inclusion, bank name, account number, etc.
Step 5: After filling in all the necessary details, click save and print the acknowledgment for your records. Finally, submit your application for the new ration card.
Types of Ration Cards and Eligibility to Apply for New Ration Card
There are four types of ration cards issued to families living in any state or union territory of India.
1. BPL Ration Card
The BPL Ration Card is issued to families living below the poverty line, who do not have any LPG or gas connection and have an annual income less than Rs.6,400 per month in rural areas and Rs.11,850 in urban areas.
- This card is issued to families living Below the Poverty Line (BPL).
- Their color variations may include Green, Blue, or Yellow.
- Total monthly income should be less than Rs.6,400 (in rural areas).
- Total monthly income should be less than Rs.11,850 (in urban areas).
2. APL Ration Card
The APL ration card is issued to citizens living above the poverty line. For this card, the family's annual income must be under Rs.3 lakh.
- APL ration cards are issued to families living Above Poverty Line (APL).
- In rural areas, APL cards are typically orange, while in urban areas, they are pink.
3. Honorary Ration Card
This card is issued to families who invest in subsidized food products but wish to use the ration card as a form of ID proof or address proof. Individuals with a monthly income over Rs.5,000, including those paying income and sales tax, may be issued an Honorary ration card.
4. AYY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Ration Card
AAY ration cards are given to individuals without a stable source of income, including workers, laborers, seniors above 60 years old, unemployed individuals, or those who are physically challenged.
