Assam Chief Ministers List: The Chief Minister of Assam is the head of the Assam state government, appointed by the governor. The CM and their council of ministers are collectively accountable to the state assembly. Below is a list of the Chief Ministers of Assam since 1946 to 2025.
Assam has had a total of 21 Chief Ministers since 1946, with eleven of them being from the Indian National Congress. Gopinath Bordoloi holds the distinction of being the first Chief Minister of Assam, while Anwara Taimur was the first female Muslim Chief Minister in India.
