Kolkata Metro is a Mass Rapid Transit Urban Railway Network serving Kolkata, India. It is notable for being India's first underground railway system, with its operations beginning in October 1984.

This metro system is currently in operation and is planned to connect to its twin city, Howrah. While one line is operational, four additional lines are under construction and three more are in the planning stages.
