The West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) was introduced in 2008 to improve medical services for government employees, replacing the earlier medical allowance. This scheme was later extended to retired and family pensioners in 2009. In addition, IAS, IPS, and IFS officers were included under WBHS in 2009 and 2010, receiving benefits similar to CGHS. Retired AIS officers became eligible in 2011.
The WBHS Rate Chart details the costs of indoor treatments at empaneled hospitals within West Bengal and select hospitals outside the state. In 2014, the scheme was renamed to "West Bengal Health for All Employees and Pensioners Cashless Medical Treatment Scheme 2014," providing cashless facilities for treatments up to ₹1,50,000.
