The West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) was introduced in 2008 to improve medical services for government employees, replacing the earlier medical allowance. This scheme was later extended to retired and family pensioners in 2009. In addition, IAS, IPS, and IFS officers were included under WBHS in 2009 and 2010, receiving benefits similar to CGHS.
