Key Points About Candidate List
List includes a mix of experienced leaders, sitting MLAs, ministers and several new faces.
Nine ministers from the current government are contesting again. Some well-known names in the list include:
- KK Shailaja
- C Raveendranath
- V Sivankutty
- Veena George
- TN Vasavan
Former health minister KK Shailaja, who won from Mattannur with a huge margin in the last election, has now been fielded from Peravoor.
Party has also introduced young leaders and fresh candidates in several constituencies to strengthen its presence.
Leaders Missing from the List
Some prominent leaders have been dropped from the list due to the party’s internal policy of avoiding repeated contests from the same seat.
Notable names missing include:
- MM Mani
- A N Shamseer
These leaders have reportedly been replaced by new candidates to give opportunities to emerging leaders.
Women Candidates in the List
The CPI(M) has included 10 women candidates in the list.
Although this number is slightly lower than the 12 women candidates fielded in 2021, the party continues to emphasize women's participation in politics.
