Lockdown in West Bengal Date List: The West Bengal government has currently re-imposed certain Covid restrictions in response to the continuous surge in daily cases, particularly those of the Omicron Variant. In line with several other states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, the state has enforced a night curfew from 10 PM to 5 AM during which only essential and emergency services are allowed to operate.

Recently, West Bengal reported over 4,000 new Covid cases, significantly raising its active caseload. The state is closely monitoring the situation with the new Omicron variant's emergence causing concern worldwide. Below is the lockdown schedule and restrictions in West Bengal.

Lockdown in West Bengal Date List 2025

The West Bengal government's order No 753/XV-ISS/2M-22/2020 dated 30/11/2021, in conjunction with earlier notifications, established certain restrictions aimed at containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a review of the current pandemic situation coupled with the emergence of the Omicron variant, the State Executive Committee of the West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority has recommended that existing restrictions and protocols remain in effect.

Consequently, these restrictions and relaxation measures in accordance with the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the West Bengal Epidemic Disease, Covid-19 Regulations 2020, will continue until tentative dates or until further notice.

The movement of people and vehicles will be restricted between 11 PM and 5 AM, except during designated celebrations.

Shops, restaurants, and bars may continue their operations during standard hours, with some flexibility regarding closing times for bars during festive periods.

It is mandatory to wear masks and maintain physical distancing as well as hygiene protocols at all times.

Employers and management of all workspaces are tasked with ensuring compliance with COVID safety measures, which include regular sanitization and vaccination of employees.

Local authorities and police have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to these guidelines. Non-compliance may lead to penalties as per applicable laws under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and the Indian Penal Code.

List of Restrictions Imposed by West Bengal Government

• All educational institutions, spas, salons, and entertainment venues to remain closed.
• Government and private offices shall operate at reduced capacity with meetings conducted virtually and work from home encouraged.
• Kolkata Metro operations are capped at 50% capacity, with local trains running only until 7 PM.
• Cinema halls, restaurants, and bars may operate at 50% capacity and must close by 10 PM. Shopping malls can be open from 10 AM to 5 PM with a limit on crowd size.
• Attendance for social gatherings is limited to 50 people for events like weddings and 20 people for funerals.
