Central OBC Caste List: The Other Backward Class (OBC) encompasses various castes in India that face educational and social challenges. This categorization is one of the several classifications recognized by the Indian government, which includes General Class, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
According to the 1980 Mandal Commission report, OBCs represented about 52% of India's population. A subsequent survey in 2006 by the National Sample Survey Organization suggested their proportion at 41%. Currently, there are 2479 recognized OBC entries in India, though disputes continue regarding the exact numbers, with many asserting that the real figure is significantly higher.
