Country-wise daily reporting has slowed down, but WHO still publishes weekly figures and variant information. These steps will help you find the current numbers for any country.
STEP 1 - Open the WHO Covid-19 dashboard at WHO Covid-19 dashboard and wait for the world map to load.
STEP 2 - Use the country or region filter on the left side to pick the place you want to check, such as India, United States or Brazil.
STEP 3 - Move to the Cases and Deaths tabs to see the weekly and cumulative figures reported to WHO for that country.
STEP 4 - Check the Circulation and Variants sections to see which SARS-CoV-2 variants are currently being detected in that region.
STEP 5 - If a country shows no recent data, it means the country has either stopped reporting or merged Covid-19 surveillance into its regular respiratory disease monitoring.
What the Ranking Shows
A few clear points come out of the final global data set. Large countries with high population and wide testing naturally sit at the top of the case table. Death counts, on the other hand, depend heavily on how each country counted Covid-19 deaths, so direct comparison between two countries is not always fair.
- United States leads in both total cases and total deaths, with 11.18 crore cases and 12.19 lakh deaths reported.
- India is second in total cases at 4.50 crore, while Brazil has the third highest death count at 7.11 lakh.
- Peru and Russia show high death numbers compared to their case counts, which points to a higher case fatality rate in those countries.
- South Korea and Japan recorded very high case numbers but much lower deaths, mainly due to wide testing and an older population getting vaccinated early.
