Japan Prime Minister List: Japan PM is the head of the executive branch and CM of the government of Japan. The office of Japan Prime Minister was established in the 1880s during the Meiji Restoration. Since the constitution of 1947 the PM has been designated by the Diet (Kokkai) before being formally appointed by the emperor.

The office is currently held by Fumio Kishida. Those prime ministers under the Meiji Constitution had a mandate from the emperor.
