Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana - Eligibility List 2025: The Government of India, through the Ministry of Labor and Employment, introduced the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) in 2008. This initiative aims to provide essential healthcare services and social security to families categorized as living below the poverty line (BPL). The primary goal of RSBY is to minimize out-of-pocket medical expenditures for BPL families, thereby enhancing their awareness and access to necessary health care.
The Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana is a government-backed health insurance scheme focused on BPL families. To avail themselves of the benefits of this scheme, beneficiaries need to pay a nominal registration fee of Rs. 30.

- The total sum insured is Rs. 30,000 per family per year, following a family floater model.

Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana Smart Card
The smart card facilitates various functions, including the identification of the beneficiary through photographs and fingerprint recognition, along with essential patient information. A key feature of the smart card is that it supports cashless transactions at empanelled hospitals and allows portability of benefits throughout the country. The authenticated smart card is issued to the beneficiary at the enrollment station. In case biometric identification fails, a photograph of the family head on the card can be used for verification.
