The Uttar Pradesh Exam Regulatory Authority has announced the schedule for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination. Students currently in class 8th can apply for the UP NMMS Scholarship exam. Application submissions are open from 23 August 2023 until 18 September 2023. The UP NMMS scholarship list will be determined based on candidates' performance in the General Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Academic Aptitude Test (SAT). Candidates can check their results for the Uttar Pradesh NMMS 2023 on the official website www.entdata.co.in. A total of 15,143 students will receive the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship based on their exam scores. Students can verify their scholarship payment status via the NSP portal.

The scholarship exam will be conducted on 5 November 2023. Each selected candidate will receive a scholarship amounting to ₹12,000 per year, which is ₹1,000 monthly, for students from class 9 to class 12 in government, government-aided, and non-government aided schools.

Eligibility Criteria for UP NMMS Scholarship

  • The candidate's annual family income should be less than ₹3,50,000.
  • Students studying in class 8 in government or non-government aided schools can apply for the NMMS scholarship exam.
  • Applicants must have passed class 7 in the academic year 2022-23 with at least 55% marks; 50% for SC and ST candidates.
  • Students must present a reservation certificate issued by the Tehsildar or competent officer for categories such as physically challenged, OBC, SC, ST, and freedom fighters.

Note: Students enrolled in Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are not eligible for the UP NMMS Scholarship. Students from private schools are also excluded from this scholarship program.

UP NMMS Scholarship Exam Pattern

The UP NMMS Scholarship Exam will take place on 5 November 2023 and will consist of two parts in a single session.

  • General Mental Ability Test (MAT) - This includes questions designed to test verbal and non-verbal reasoning abilities, such as analogy, classification, numerical series, and hidden figures.
  • Academic Aptitude Test (SAT) - This will cover subjects such as Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics from classes 7 and 8.

UP NMMS Scholarship Merit List Result 2025

The merit list for the UP NMMS Scholarship will be based on the students' performance in the MAT and SAT exams. The minimum qualifying marks for candidates in the general category is 40%, while for SC/ST candidates, the minimum cut-off is 32%. Students must have passed class 7 with at least 55% marks for general category, and 50% for SC/ST candidates.

How to Avail NMMS Scholarship after Selection

Here is the complete procedure to apply for the NMMS Scholarship:

Step 1: The selected candidates need to open a bank account, preferably in SBI or any other government bank.

Step 2: Selected candidates must apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in.

Step 3: The final list of students processed for scholarships will be available on the NSP portal.

Step 4: The scholarship amount will be transferred directly to the selected students' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Step 5: Students must renew their applications annually. For continuing NMMS scholarships in class 10 and 12, students should achieve at least 60% marks in the 9th and 11th classes on their first attempt (5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates).
