Asian Games 2026 is the 20th edition of the continental Games, and it returns to the traditional four-year cycle after the 2022 edition was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees plus the Asian Refugee Team will compete in 43 sports with 71 disciplines and 469 medal events.

Asian Games 2023 Final Medal Tally List
People's Republic of China hosted the 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou from 23 September to 8 October 2023. The official motto of the Games was "Heart to Heart, @Future" and the mascots were Chenchen, Congcong and Lianlian. A total of 45 countries took part in 40 sports with 61 disciplines and 481 events, with more than 12,000 athletes competing.
India sent a 655-member contingent and finished with a record 107 medals, which included 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze. This was India's best-ever haul at a single Asian Games, beating the previous record of 70 medals at Jakarta 2018. India finished fourth in the final medal table.

Asian Games 2026: Dates, Venues and Sports
Asian Games 2026 will be held from 19 September to 4 October 2026. Opening and closing ceremonies will take place at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya. Competition venues are spread across Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya city, with some events in Gifu, Shizuoka, Osaka and Tokyo.
Games will feature 43 sports with 71 disciplines and 469 medal events. Freestyle BMX, mixed martial arts, padel, surfing, teqball and virtual taekwondo will make their Asian Games debut. Cricket returns for the second time after its debut at Hangzhou 2023, and esports continues as a medal sport.
India at Asian Games 2026
India is sending 503 athletes, 269 men and 234 women, in 36 sports to Aichi-Nagoya 2026. The contingent also includes 246 support staff and 19 officials. Sahdev Yadav is the Chef de Mission and Sharath Kamal is his deputy.
Team includes star names like PV Sindhu, Manu Bhaker, Mirabai Chanu, Harmanpreet Kaur and Shreyas Iyer. Neeraj Chopra pulled out due to injury and Yashvir Singh replaced him in the men's javelin event.
