Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released updated CBSE sports calendar 2026-27 for cluster, zonal and national level sports competitions. CBSE organizes inter-school games and sports events every year for all schools affiliated to the board, and the 2026-27 calendar is now live on the new CBSE sports portal.
CBSE games 2026-27 are held in different age groups for boys and girls. Schools and students register online through the official CBSE sports portal at academic.cbseit.in/sports. Winners of cluster and zonal level events move to CBSE national level games.
CBSE Sports Calendar 2026-27 Venue, Fixtures & Date
CBSE sports calendar 2026-27 includes the list of organizing schools, venue and event dates for cluster, zone and national level competitions. The latest version of the calendar was updated on 04 September 2026 and is available in the Recent Announcements section of the sports portal.
CBSE issued circular Acad-48/2026 on 08 July 2026 to inform schools that the new sports portal is live. The last date for registration and applying to participate in CBSE games 2026-27 was 14 July 2026, and competitions started from 15 July 2026. The calendar is subject to change, so participants and schools should check the portal frequently and confirm details with organizing schools before booking tickets.

How to Participate in CBSE National Games
Qualification for CBSE national games 2026-27 depends on the position secured at cluster and zonal level. The rules are given below.
- Winner and first runner-up - In individual events like athletics, table tennis, badminton, judo, skating, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, chess, shooting, boxing, archery and yoga, the winner and first runner-up qualify for national games.
- Winner only - In team events like basketball, football, kabaddi, kho kho, volleyball, handball and hockey, only the winning team moves to CBSE national games.
List of Documents for CBSE Sports Participation
Every player and team must carry required documents to prove eligibility. A player loses the right to participate if the original documents are not produced when asked by the organizing school or CBSE observer.
- Birth certificate
- School ID card
- Aadhar card
- CBSE registration number for students in class IX and above
- Original documents for verification
- Team photo with school principal along with the entry proforma filled online
- Eligibility certificate signed by the principal or head of the school
- Previous year final exam mark sheet
Important Points for Students Participating in CBSE Sports
Age is calculated as on 31 December 2026, and the player must be within the age group for which he or she participates. A junior player can play in a senior age group, but participation in the original age group is forfeited. A student who has failed twice in a class is not eligible to participate in CBSE games.
No offline entry or on the spot entry is allowed. Only bonafide students can participate, and if a non-bonafide player is found in a team, the whole team is disqualified. Teams and players must report at the organizing school one day before the start of the event.
Misbehavior, abusive language, indiscipline or damaging school property can lead to disqualification of the team or individual athlete.

Yes you can register with late fee for Registration Rs.1000/- per student till 21 October 2023. The late fee shall be paid online while filling the online form on CBSE Sports Portal. Before applying with late fee make sure that dates of sports event(s) in CBSE Sports Calendar (2023-24) has not already passed.
