Conservation Reserves
- Introduced by the Wildlife Protection Amendment Act of 2002.
- Buffer areas between existing national parks and sanctuaries.
- Entirely government-owned and uninhabited.
- Covers 0.08% of India's geographical area.
Community Reserves
- Also added by the Wildlife Protection Amendment Act of 2002.
- Buffer zones for community subsistence and conservation.
- Some private land is included.
- Covers 0.002% of India's geographical area.
