The West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) was introduced in 2008 to enhance medical facilities for government employees, replacing the previous medical allowance. This scheme was later extended to superannuated and family pensioners in 2009. The government also included IAS, IPS, and IFS officers under WBHS in 2009 and 2010, offering them benefits similar to CGHS. Retired AIS officers became eligible in 2011.
WBHS Rate Chart covers the cost of indoor treatment in empanelled hospitals within West Bengal and selected hospitals outside the state. In 2014, the scheme was renamed "West Bengal Health for All Employees and Pensioners Cashless Medical Treatment Scheme 2014" with cashless facilities up to ₹1,50,000 per treatment.
