CBI Officers List: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) works as India's main investigating agency under the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. It also serves as the National Central Bureau for Interpol in India, which means it connects state police forces and central agencies with police networks in other countries.

CBI Officers List 2026 in Different States and UTs
Interpol Liaison Officers are senior police officers posted in every state and union territory. They act as the single point of contact between CBI and the local police for international police cooperation. Their job includes handling Interpol notices, extradition requests, and mutual legal assistance matters. All these ILOs are now connected with CBI through the Connect module of the BHARATPOL portal. This portal was launched on 7 January 2025 and it links CBI with state police and central agencies on one platform. CBI Directors List from 1963 to 2026
CBI is led by a Director who is appointed by a three-member committee. This committee has the Prime Minister as chairperson, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, and the Chief Justice of India or a Supreme Court judge recommended by the Chief Justice. The Director's term is fixed for two years, and it can be extended by up to one year at a time, with a maximum of three extensions.

Work and Duties of CBI Officers
CBI officers handle a wide range of cases that go beyond the reach of state police. Their work covers corruption, economic offences, and organised crime. Some of their main duties are listed below.
- Fighting corruption in public life and controlling economic and violent crimes through proper investigation and prosecution.
- Building better systems and procedures for successful investigations and prosecutions in different courts.
- Helping in the fight against cyber crime and high technology crime.

- Supporting state police and other law enforcement agencies in national and international cooperation, mainly for investigations and inquiries.
