Banned YouTube Channels in India List: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked multiple YouTube channels, including several based in Pakistan, due to their role in spreading misinformation that threatens India's national security. A total of 26 YouTube channels have been banned, among which 18 are Indian channels. This action is the first under the IT Rules, 2021, aimed at curbing fake news dissemination.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, invoking emergency powers under the IT Rules, 2021, initiated this action on April 4, 2022, against 22 YouTube news channels, 3 Twitter accounts, 1 Facebook account, and 1 news website. These banned channels collectively reached over 260 crore views and were utilized to disseminate fake news concerning national security and public order.
