Sainik Schools in Haryana 2025: Sainik Schools were created to provide a premier residential education for bright boys, particularly those from rural backgrounds in India. Since the academic session of 2021-22, admissions have also been extended to girls, with 10% of available seats reserved for them. These schools are jointly operated by the state government and the Ministry of Defence. In the 2021-22 session, there were 320 admissions for girls, and the number rose to 335 for the 2022-23 session.
As of now, Haryana has two fully operational Sainik Schools, located in Kunjpura, Karnal, and Rewari district, while a third Sainik School is under construction in Jhajjar district. Once completed, Haryana will be the only state in India with three Sainik Schools. Admissions are conducted for classes 6 and 9 based on performance in the All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE). Below is the list of Sainik Schools in Haryana.

Haryana currently has two functional Sainik Schools, with one under construction. The two running schools are Kunjpura Sainik School in Karnal, and Rewari Sainik School, while the third, Sainik School Matanhail, Jhajjar, is being built.
Sainik Schools in Haryana are managed by both the Haryana government and the Ministry of Defence. The state ranks among the top three in India concerning student enrollment in Sainik Schools, with a total student count of 1,163.
Kunjpura Sainik School
Kunjpura Sainik School is one of the first few Sainik Schools established in India back in 1961. The school’s motto is "Siddhim Sannadh", which translates to 'ready to accomplish'. The cadets of Kunjpura School are known as 'Kunjeyans'. Its campus spans across 276 acres and has the capacity to accommodate 625 cadets from classes VI to XII.

Rewari Sainik School
Rewari Sainik School was inaugurated on August 29, 2008, by the Defence Minister of India, A K Antony. The school's Principal is Col. Soumyabrata Dhar, and the Vice Principal is Wg. Cdr. Kamal Singh Rawat. Cadets here are called 'ReWarians', and the school's motto is "Gyan Sadbhawna Deshbhakti" which translates to 'yes we can'. The school can accommodate 538 students.

Sainik School Matanhail Jhajjar
Sainik School Matanhail in Jhajjar will become the third Sainik School in Haryana. Its foundation stone was laid on September 7, 2003, by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
New Sainik Schools in Haryana
On March 25, 2022, the Government of India approved the establishment of 100 new Sainik Schools in a partnership model. The Sainik Schools Society, under the Ministry of Defence of India, has proposed setting up two new Sainik Schools in Haryana. Admissions to these schools will also be conducted for class VI based on the AISSEE results.
Sainik School Khara Kheri Fatehabad
Sainik School Khara Kheri, situated in Fatehabad, is among the initial 21 new Sainik Schools approved by the Ministry of Defence on March 25, 2022. It was established in 2009 under the Om Vishnu Education Society.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Sainik Schools in Haryana
The age of candidates for admission to Class VI should be between 10 and 12 years. For Class IX, candidates should be aged between 13 and 15 years. Additionally, they should have passed Class VIII from a recognized institution at the time of admission.
