Note: TASMAC shops and attached bars remain closed on all the holidays listed above. Apart from these, the state government declares specific dry days on which sale of liquor is fully banned. For 2026, TASMAC has declared dry days on Thiruvalluvar Day (16 January), Republic Day (26 January), Vadalur Vallalar Memorial Day (1 February), Mahavir Jayanti (31 March), May Day (1 May), Independence Day (15 August), Milad-un-Nabi (26 August) and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). All TASMAC offices and retail shops stay closed on these dry days.

TASMAC Working Hours in Tamil Nadu
TASMAC retail shops are open from 12 noon to 10 PM on all working days, including Sunday, except on TASMAC holidays and dry days. Earlier TASMAC shops used to operate from 10 AM to 8 PM. Now Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) has fixed the new schedule for all TASMAC outlets. Shops remain open on all days except the dry days declared by the Tamil Nadu government.

Note: Tamil Nadu government prohibits sale of alcohol on dry days. Apart from the regular dry days, TASMAC outlets also remained closed from 21 to 23 April 2026 during the Tamil Nadu Assembly election polling and on 4 May 2026, the counting day, as per the Election Commission of India orders. You need to carry ID proof for the purchase of liquor as people below 21 years are not allowed to drink or buy alcohol.
TASMAC Online Liquor Ordering and Payment
TASMAC has started online liquor ordering and payment through its official website from August 2026. Customers can select the outlet, pay online and collect the liquor after showing the QR code generated on the website. There is no home delivery of liquor. The online system helps make sure liquor is sold only at the MRP printed on the bottle and every sale gets a bill. For more details, check the official TASMAC website.
TASMAC Liquor Price List 2026
TASMAC shops and bars are allowed to sell liquor only at MRP (Maximum Retail Price). If any salesman or supervisor is found selling above MRP, action is taken against them. TASMAC 717 Liquor Shops Closed List
TASMAC has closed 717 liquor shops across Tamil Nadu in 2026. The closure was ordered by the state government and the list contains details such as shop number, district, region and the total number of outlets closed in each area. Madurai region recorded the highest number of closures with 290 outlets. The list was released again in August 2026 after MLAs demanded the details.
