The reliance on fossil fuels and traditional methods of cooking poses serious health risks, particularly to women and children. Transitioning to LPG will not only enhance health but also contribute to a cleaner and safer environment. Benefits Offered Under the Scheme Families classified as BPL can obtain a new LPG connection without needing to pay the security deposit for one cylinder and one pressure regulator. However, beneficiaries will need to cover certain costs as detailed below: Installation or demonstration charges for the new connection paid to the distributor. Administrative fees for issuing the Domestic Gas Consumer Card (DGCC), including costs to the distributor. At the time of receiving the new connection, the customer must provide a rubber tubing and a gas stove, both with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification. These can be purchased from any source, including the distributor. If sourced from the distributor, the customer will need to pay for the hot plate and LPG rubber hose. If a hot plate is procured from outside the distributor's network, inspection charges may apply. The price of the filled LPG cylinder should be paid separately when obtaining the new LPG Connection. How to Apply BPL cardholders can approach the nearest LPG distributor or Rajiv Gandhi Grameen LPG Vitrak (RGGLV) and submit a prescribed declaration form along with a photocopy of their BPL Ration Card. The RGGLV will keep a photocopy of the BPL ration card, stamp it as "verified with original," and register the individual as a prospective LPG consumer under the scheme. A list of BPL ration cardholders who have registered for the scheme will be prepared by the RGGLV and shared with relevant state officials for validation. Based on verification by the state government, LPG connections will be granted to authenticated beneficiaries upon completing all required formalities. Under the scheme, each BPL Ration cardholder will receive only one deposit-free cylinder. If the cardholder wishes to apply for a second cylinder, it will be provided at the applicable deposit rate.
